INVISIBLE MADE VISIBLE | 1 JOHN
John begins this section by speaking about the “revealing” (NIV: appearance) that has yet to come in reference to the coming of Christ. Of course, for many talking about the coming of Jesus conjuers images of fire, wars and dragons. But the word for coming in the Greek speaks first and foremost of presence. It’s possible John is talking about the reality that God is always present, and, in a sense, that Christ is always coming. If that is the case the great revealing is that we too will learn to be present and, in doing so, see Christ in all things.
