Places can tell us a lot about a story. Maybe this is why the biblical writers name several places when telling the story of the birth of Jesus. In the first two chapters of Luke he mentions four places: Nazareth, The Hills, Bethlehem and Jerusalem (only one of these can reallybe called a city by ancient standards). We will explore the history of these four places seeking to understand what geography can tell us about a familiar story.
